Mark W. Hoelscher is a photographer, photojournalist, & documentary filmmaker based in Washington, DC. Previously the Director of Photography on the video team at The Brookings Institution, Mark worked with Creative Director George Burroughs to produce visual storytelling and documentary projects that highlight scholar research. Some of these projects include an award-winning short that illustrates social mobility through the use of LEGO, a short biography of Daniel Patrick Moynihan, and most recently he photographed The Life She Deserves, a short documentary which serves as an intimate portrait of a young epilepsy patient in the United States who finds relief with medical marijuana. The Life She Deserves premiered at The London West Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Mark also was a contributing photographer at DCMusicDownload, an online news publication which covered DC music and culture, before shutting down in 2018 when editor Stephanie Williams moved on to work at the Washington Post.
